Do I need a website if I already have a Facebook page?

Short answer

Yes, if you want people who don't know you yet to find you. A Facebook page is great for keeping in touch with customers you already have. But you don't own it, Google and AI tools only see part of it, and it doesn't answer the questions people search before they call.

A simple website covers those gaps. Keep the Facebook page and link the two.

What does a website do that a Facebook page can't?

It gives Google, AI tools, and customers one page they can read in full and treat as the official word on your business.

  • You own it. If Facebook changes its rules, locks your account, or shows your posts to fewer people, your site stays put.
  • It answers searches. Service pages, prices, service area, and FAQs match what people type into Google. Facebook posts scroll out of sight.
  • It can be read in full. Facebook shows less of your page to people who aren't logged in, and to Google and AI tools, so they often get only part of the picture.
  • It feeds AI answers. Tools like ChatGPT lean on business websites for services, hours, and prices. More on that in how to get recommended by ChatGPT.

Do customers still look at business websites?

Yes. In BrightLocal's 2026 survey, 54% of people said they go to a business's website after reading positive reviews, up from 32% in 2019.

Is a Facebook page ever enough?

It can be, if nearly all your work comes from referrals and repeat customers who already have your number. Once you want strangers to find you on Google, Maps, or ChatGPT, it usually isn't.

What's the smallest website that does the job?

One page can work if it covers what a customer checks before calling.

  • What you do, service by service
  • The towns or neighborhoods you serve
  • A tap-to-call phone number and your hours
  • Prices, or at least a starting price
  • Real photos of your work
  • A few reviews, plus a link to leave one

Make sure it loads fast on a phone and uses the same business name and phone number as your Google profile.

Should I delete my Facebook page once I have a website?

No. Keep posting updates and photos there, and link your page and your website to each other. BrightLocal still counts Facebook among the top places people go for local recommendations.
